​In February 2024, a significant bushfire erupted in western Victoria. The fire began on February 22 in the Mount Buangor State Park area and rapidly spread due to strong winds and high temperatures. By February 23, the blaze had consumed over 14,000 hectares, affecting towns including Raglan, Warrak, Bayindeen, Beaufort, Waterloo, Main Lead, Chute, Mount Lonarch, Middle Creek, and Elmhurst.
