Breaking waves are often referred to as the white horses with the crest of the wave taking on the shape of a mane and with the peak of the wave resembling a horses head and if you listen closely you may hear hooves thundering along the ocean floor as the waves break. This image captured off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil reinforces this belief however in this case the wave more closely resembles a black stallion.
