Craig Mattner, Down on his luck (PEOPLE 2023)

There is a shadow in every human life—sometimes visible—sometimes not. We each desperately need help or encouragement from another—not always financial—but help just the same. Even in this young man's plight we see a willingness to engage with need. His dog is being cared for through the covering and the water bowl. I want to honour that connection and struggle which seems to be a part of being human.
