Natalie Arber, Glazed Ocean (PLACES 2023)
In the early hours of the morning on east cost of the island of Oahu in Hawaii I noticed a display of gradients which softly transition across the gentle, undisrupted waters of Lanikai. The open glassy waters allowed the light to bounce gently across the scene, with minor tension only occurring from the small sailboat in the background until my eye was led back down to the foreground. I noticed how the wave break was heavily contrasted and bright and the texture resembled shards of shattered glass.
