IMG 'Joy' Subject - Valerie - Project Venus 8 This was one of those moments where I said something hilariously daft. I do this often. Talk with subjects. What struck me about this moment was the tear. The pure joy. We had just met and we had already shared stories about our histories, our traumas, our disabilities and our families, and all while in fits of laughter together. Even though I no longer work as a social worker - I still feel like one. Just with an added tool under my belt. My way of working with subjects is intimate, conversational. I am in it with you. It's not intrusive. It's full of both of our shared life experiences. My access with this group made me feel so validated as an artist and fall in love with project work. BIO Danielle is a Margaret River-based photographic artist and narrative disruptor, using her lens to challenge societal norms and amplify marginalised voices. Her latest project, Venus 8, is a sociological exploration of rebellion, femininity, and the untold stories of strippers, industry workers and erotic performers. With themes that focus on the LQBTQIA+ community, disability, neurodiversity, addiction, feminism and cultural identity. Danielle’s work dismantles stereotypes, directing the audience to the resilience of humanity - studying those often relegated to the margins. Through evocative imagery, interviews with subjects and raw storytelling, she invites viewers to question norms, celebrate diversity, and embrace the complexity of the human experience.
