Jacob Dedman, Layers Of Melbourne (PLACES 2024)

This photo was created when I was down in Melbourne on one of a few daytrips to the city earlier in the year. To me it says so much about Melbourne... the character, the buildings, the people, the transportation... amongst many others, these are the layers of Melbourne. First glance your eye is drawn to the silhouette of the person walking, then slowly the whole scene reveals itself, piece by piece, from the old buildings from times gone by, contrasting against the modern skyscrapers of today reaching for the clouds, the crowd of people that always seems to congregate around Flinders Street Station, The Billboard "All For Tomorrow" representing the future of Melbourne our younger generations will be seeing in years to come... There's always new things to be found in the layers of a city, and Melbourne is definitely just that...
