After rains at Doubtful Sound (NZ), the mountainous landscape gives way to ephemeral cascades and gullies that return water back to the fiord. I caught a fleeting glimpse of these cascades and was drawn to how they looked juxtaposed against the moody fog and the silhouettes of the primordial mountain beech trees. The scene lasted for about a minute before the fog dissipated.
