Jacqueline De Freitas Leal, Sacred (PLACES 2022)

On the flat rock platform below the cliffs of Ben Buckler, Bondi’s northern headland, sits a huge boulder. This rock weighing 235 tons was washed from the sea during a cyclone storm on 1912. Photos with the water covering this big rock, can only be captured if enormous swells hit the coast. The power of nature and the geometric patterns formed is what grabbed my attention. Patterns exist all around us, creating the fundamental structure and templates of life in the universe. The patterns can be broken down into a language of mathematics that rules the entirety of our visible and invisible world.
