John Janson-Moore, The Descent of Man (PLACES 2023)

Regrowth begins to overtake the ruins of Mount Stromlo Observatory, almost 20 years after it was destroyed by bushfires in 2003. Humanity’s millennia-old attempts to use technology to triumph over nature has come full circle as the carbon-fuelled climate crisis threatens our very existence. As we continue to reach for the stars, extreme weather events are increasingly causing havoc back here on Earth. Shot on analogue, 35mm black and white film.
