Mariana Zilbershteyn, The eye of the storm (PEOPLE 2023)

Single shot capture of a young boy in a lane in Nandgaon, during the Holi celebrations in 2023. The festival of colours brings together people from all parts of India to celebrate in the region known as the birth place of Krishna. As the day progresses the crowds surge, creating an energy that has to be experienced. These lanes lead up to the main temple sitting atop a hill, the courtyard of which serves as the main playground for Holi being played. In the lead up to the main event there is an underlying sense of anticipation and excitement. The lanes reverberate with the sounds of drums, people moving around and kids throwing water and powder from rooftops....... all while knowing the storm is yet to come.
