Alannah Bautista, The Tunnel (PLACES 2023)

This photograph of the tunnel was taken at Cockatoo Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in New South Wales, Australia. Cockatoo Island has an industrial history of shipbuilding and repair, with facilities and machinery littered throughout the landscape. This tunnel was used to transport materials across the island more efficiently, making construction on Cockatoo Island easier until its abandonment.
