Annika Kloeckner, Waterlines (PLACES 2023)

I have a deep appreciation for the simplicity and beauty of patterns and shapes found in nature. Water and light are life-giving and a source of much beauty in our environment. ‘Waterlines’ was taken during 2022 La Niña weather events, when a creek at our local beach which was usually dry started to flow. The strong bold lines formed by water moving over the sand and the light which illuminated it, contrasted against the softer shapes of refracted light in the water. The result was an intense and lively scene of what would otherwise be a very ordinary and dry creek bed.
